This mudra is pretty simple to perform and spreads the knowledge of intelligence along with spreading physical and mental health and peace all around.

The other name of the gyan mudra is mudra-Vayu-Vardhak mudra plus Dhyan Mudra. The main use for performing this mudra is the hands which is a gesture used for both Hinduism and Buddhism. Mudra which is the essence and main aspect of all yoga is also considered as a ritual that describes all forms of symbolic gesture and action. Thus in this article will learn about one of the 100 mudra’s that is the Gyan mudra and what are Gyan Mudra Benefits and why we shall perform them.

Steps to perform Gyan

First and foremost let’s learn how we shall perform the Gyan mudra and what are steps will lead us to the Gyan mudra. The steps are very simple and thus the Gyan mudra can be performed in a very rapid and easy manner. This is mainly performed along with meditation as well as with the asana. This is also known as a yogic gesture with hands and is considered one of the easiest. The index finger is given the responsibility of the air element of the body because it is the symbol of air. On the other hand, the thumb is the symbol of fire.

These two combinations when coming together actually help in performing the yogic mudra. This asana is very simple and can be performed anytime and at any place without any restriction.

  • First to perform the Gyan Mudra pose all one needs to do is sit in a very comfortable position and a relaxed position and make yourself ready for the yoga mudra.
  • Here at this position, the hands must be on your knees facing upward and the eyes should be closed. The body here should be in a stage to do meditation and the position must be very relaxed.
  • Postures like the Padmasana, Siddhasana, Swastikasana, Vajrasana etc are best for the practice of the Gyan Mudra. These poses give the actual benefit of the mudra and also enlighten the body and soul from within.
  • Now close the eyes and continue to take deep breaths to keep the body relaxed and make the awakening breathing start.
  • Next, all you need to do is fold the index finger and start tapping on the tip of the index finger which will in order tip the thumb. This should be the exact position of the fingers to achieve the best results.
  • Now all one needs to do with the rest three fingers is that they need to keep them extended and stretched as much as they can. But to the tolerable extent.
  • Now one needs to get control over the mind and remove all kinds of thoughts in the mind. Here one should start chanting the word which they feel most positive about. Others can start chanting “om” just focusing here without the thoughts getting fluctuated.
  • Both the hands must be used in this process simultaneously and the speed and variations must be static and there should be no change in the speed.
  • Now the breathing should also be controlled and the speed must be stable. Fluctuations are something which is to be avoided in the tea.
  • This pose can easily be performed for 35minutes to 45 minutes at one go but if this is something which you feel is difficult then you can also perform this in segments of 10-15 minutes 3-4 times a day.

Thus these are the pretty simple, easy steps that are to be followed while you are doing the Gyan mudra.
